Three alleged kidnappers are killed by police, and four guns are found in Delta

After an abduction attempt, the Delta State Police Command engaged in a gunfight that resulted in the deaths of three alleged kidnappers.

On September 2, 2024, at Okoloba Junction, Jakpa Road, Uvwie, the suspects attempted to abduct the wife of a member of the Delta State House of Assembly.

The suspects killed Mr. David Imela, the legislator’s chauffeur, and two police officers during the abortive attempt.

In Asaba, the capital of Delta State, SP Bright Edafe, a spokesman for the Police Command, verified this to DAILY PULSE on Sunday.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, immediately ordered heightened security around Warri and neighbouring areas, including roadblocks at exit points, following the failed attempt to kidnap the wife of a Delta State House of Assembly member, where the suspected kidnappers murdered two mobile policemen and the driver,” the statement reads.

At the DSC roundabout, police officers from the Ebrumede Division purposefully caused a traffic jam under the direction of CSP Iwok Ndifereke, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO). They saw a car that fit the description and even had the same registration number.

“The thugs opened fire on the officers after observing the traffic and the presence of the police.” Considering how busy the location was, the cops responded with professionalism. The suspects fled with gunshot wounds after abandoning their heavily damaged car. The operational car, registered WWR-436-GZ, and three AK-47 firearms were found, according to Edafe.

CP Abaniwonda, dissatisfied with the suspects’ escape, gave the DPO instructions to track down and apprehend the attackers.

With the help of information and proof discovered in the abandoned car, CSP Iwok Ndifereke guided his team to the perpetrators’ Agbarho hideout on October 3, 2024.

There was a heated shootout between the accused and the cops. While several of the suspects managed to flee, three of them suffered fatal bullet wounds. An additional AK-47 firearm was found.

After being transported to the hospital, the suspects’ injuries were determined to be fatal. According to Edafe, there is a manhunt going on for the gang’s surviving members.

CP Olufemi praised the DPO and his crew for their bravery and effort during the operation, and he exhorted other officers to emulate them.
