Delta Air Lines launches a direct route from Lagos to New York in December

Delta Air Lines, the oldest airline in the US and the seventh oldest in the world, has decided to resume daily flights from Lagos State to New York starting in December 2024.

As a result of this change, the airline will switch from the Airbus A330-200, which can hold 223 passengers, to the larger Airbus A330-900neo, which can hold 281 passengers.

This was said in a statement made accessible to DAILY PULSE REPORT on Monday, which said that the improvement intends to give the flying public an improved travel experience in addition to signifying an increase in capacity.

According to the release, “this decision highlights Delta’s dedication to aligning its services with customer preferences and the evolving dynamics of air travel.”

Mary Gbobaniyi, the airline’s Head of Sales for West Africa, expressed enthusiasm at the news, saying it could not have come at a better time to introduce more flights to the Nigerian market. Our clients will have more alternatives and a better experience thanks to our larger aircraft and increased capacity.

“As the top international airline, Delta aims to connect individuals and communities to one another and to their own potential via the creation of opportunities, understanding, and new experiences.

“An essential element of Delta’s operational philosophy is our continuous monitoring of customer preferences and travel patterns. In order to efficiently match capacity to meet demand, Delta closely examines where customers want to fly.

The airline stated that customer feedback was the driving force behind its decision to launch a direct trip.

As per the statement, Delta’s decision to extend its services to Lagos is a direct reaction to the favourable comments received from customers about its offers and the general demand in the market.

To ensure a seamless travel experience, Delta encourages “passengers traveling on flights from Lagos to arrive at the airport for check-in no later than three hours before departure to overcome airport security screening challenges.”

“Arriving at the weighing scales at the close of counters will not guarantee check-in and will be considered late,” the airline added, advising passengers to check in 90 minutes prior to departure.

According to Delta, following these rules will enable it to give its customers the greatest possible service and a hassle-free travel experience.

The announcement goes on to say, “Delta One Lounge at John F. Kennedy International Airport will be available to premium travellers on the New York-Lagos route. A variety of upscale amenities, such as fine food selections, opulent seating places, and customised services, are available at this private lounge.

“The Delta One Lounge is a perfect complement to the premium travel experience on this route, designed to enhance the travel experience by offering passengers a serene environment to relax in before their flights.”
