
Olayemi Olawale Shedrack, 33, a suspected rapist and armed robber, was taken into custody by Ogun State police in Ijagun, Odogbolu local government area.
In relation to the reported rape and armed robbery of female students at the Tai University of Education in Ijagun, the suspect was taken into custody.
According to a DAILY PULSE investigation, female students at Tai University of Education, Ijagun’s Royal Villa accommodations were raped and had various items, including laptops and cash, stolen in July.
Shedrack was on the police wanted list, according to Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the arrest to DAILY PULSE in the early hours of Monday.
According to Odutola, the man was apprehended while attempting to blend in with the throng in response to an intelligence report.
She declared, “Olayemi Olawale Shedrack has been the target of a police manhunt for rape and armed robbery.”
On July 21, 2024, he and his accomplices broke into the female Royal villa accommodation area at Tai University of Education Ijagun, robbing innocent female students of their luxurious educational devices, including laptops, iPhones, wristwatches, and cash. He was also charged with being the primary suspect in an alleged crime of rape and armed robbery in which he actively participated.
After receiving a tip, he was seen in Ijagun, attempting to blend in with the locals. However, intelligence quickly verified his identity, the police were alerted, and he was quickly taken into custody.
The suspect will soon be moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a covert investigation and prosecution, according to the PPRO.
In the meantime, Ijagun community residents have been requested by Police Commissioner Alamutu Abiodun to provide reliable information that will help the police apprehend the other offenders.
