Youths in the state are being encouraged to sign up for the current military recruiting drive by the Delta State Government.
Additionally, it gave the Nigerian Army headquarters’ recruitment team assurances about its dedication to making sure more young people in Delta State take part in the 88th Regular Recruitment Exercise for Trades/Non-Tradesmen jobs in the Nigerian Army.
Dr. Kingsley Emu, the Secretary to the State Government, made the call and provided the guarantee on Monday when a group from Army headquarters, under the command of Brig. Gen. Nwito Nzidee, visited his office in Asaba.
According to Emu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has a strong commitment to making sure that more young people from Delta State are enlisted in the armed forces and other paramilitary organisations.
The governor claimed that in order to accomplish this, he formed a commission on raising awareness about juvenile enlistment in the armed forces and paramilitary forces.
The group, whose members are selected from pertinent government agencies, is led by the Commissioner for Youth Development and aims to educate young people about the prospects that come with jobs in the military and paramilitary.
The SSG observed that the committee’s intensive efforts at raising awareness led to a discernible improvement in the most recent hiring process.
He did, however, urge the committee to step up its efforts so that even more young people in the state are aware of the recruitment drive and can seize the chance.
The visiting team’s commander, Nzidee, had earlier said that the group was in Delta State for a sensitisation exercise and urged the state administration to persist in encouraging young people to sign up via the Nigerian Army’s online recruitment platform.
He underlined that states that fall short of their allotted quota in the recruiting process are the biggest losers since their slots would be reallocated to other states that receive a larger volume of applications, which would penalise the under-represented state.
The online application procedure, which began on September 30, 2024, will expire on November 8, 2024.
