Soldiers in Lagos fatally stab a police officer for enforcing traffic laws.

The cop passed away from his wounds despite being sent to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for emergency care.

Soldiers from the Ojo Cantonment Barracks are said to have fatally attacked Inspector Saka Ganiyu, a policeman.

At the Volks Bus Stop on the Ojo-Iyana Iba Road, police stopped a soldier driving an unlicensed T4 Volkswagen bus against traffic, which led to the attack.

After a confrontation with the police, the out-of-uniform soldier requested additional support, according to PUNCH Online.

Inspector Ganiyu was hurt when troops from the neighbouring Ojo Cantonment invaded the area and attacked the police officers.

The cop passed away from his wounds despite being sent to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for emergency care.

His remains have been placed in the hospital mortuary for an autopsy.

The responsible soldier is apparently in the custody of the Commander of the 9 Brigade in Ikeja Cantonment.

The soldier’s identity is still unknown, though.

SaharaReporters attempted to contact Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, for a statement, but he did not return calls or messages.
