Joshua’s loss of Dubois still pains him.

Eddie Hearn, the CEO of Matchroom Boxing, has acknowledged that Anthony Joshua is still processing his recent loss to Daniel Dubois and is carefully weighing his options for a possible rematch.

The former two-time unified heavyweight champion is still in shock over his fifth-round stoppage loss to Dubois at Wembley last month, and he is considering his options.

Retaining his IBF heavyweight championship, Dubois stopped Joshua four times before stopping him with 59 seconds remaining in the fifth round to record an incredible win. Joshua was the overwhelming favourite going into the bout, especially considering that he had won four straight after losing two straight to Oleksandr Usyk.

In addition, he had already fought Francis Ngannou, the former UFC champion, earlier in the year, solidifying his place among the heavyweight contenders. But after losing to Dubois, the 34-year-old must now decide how to proceed with his career in the ring.

Hearn provided insight into Joshua’s present mental state when speaking on DAZN. It was just three weeks ago, so it’s still really recent. The loss has destroyed him,” he remarked.

“As the new champion, Daniel has had an amazing time in Brazil, and he deserves it.” AJ’s contract has a decision-making period that hasn’t ended yet, but he’s giving it a lot of thought. He’s taking some time to recuperate while deciding what he wants to do.

Though there is doubt, Hearn confirmed that talks about a potential rematch between Joshua and Dubois are still going on. This suggests that Joshua is leaning in that direction.

Hearn said to Sky Sports, “There’s no bad decision when you start thinking about it.”

“He wants to become the world heavyweight champion, which may include waiting for Tyson Fury or fighting Dubois once again in place of Deontay Wilder. It will be difficult to persuade AJ not to accept the rematch if it is entirely up to him, as it ultimately will be.

Veteran heavyweight fighter Derek Chisora also commented on Joshua’s circumstances and gave some clear guidance.

Chisora stated on “The Stomping Ground” that “he should jump on the rematch straight away.”

Although there isn’t a formal rematch option in the contract, sources suggest that Joshua has one more fight left on his Riyadh Season contract, and Dubois and Turki Alalshikh, the head of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority, are want to see Joshua and Alhashim again.
