Nnamdi Kanu’s Legal Team Is Alarmed That The Secret Police DSS Has Blocked Him From All Visitors Since September

In his previous court appearance on September 24, Ejimakor reminded the audience that the DSS had barred Kanu from seeing any visitors since he had asked for Justice Binta Nyako to recuse herself from his case.

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is being held in detention. His legal team has expressed concern for his well-being once more, claiming that the Department of State Services (DSS) has cut off all contact with him and prevented him from seeing anyone, not even his attorneys.

In a statement released on Monday on behalf of the legal team, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’s special attorney, revealed that the DSS had forbidden the legal team from meeting with the IPOB leader during their customary visitation in Abuja, in defiance of court orders still in effect.

Ejimakor noted that since Kanu’s most recent court appearance on September 24, during which he had requested that Justice Binta Nyako recuse herself from his case, the DSS had not permitted any visitors to see him.

The Legal Team of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was unable to meet him today, October 14, 2024, when we went to the State Security Services’ (SSS) headquarters in Abuja as part of a court-ordered visiting schedule. This was done in contravention of the orders still in effect.

It should be noted that since Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s most recent court appearance on September 24, 2024, when he requested that Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako recuse herself from his case, the DSS has not permitted any visitors to see Kanu.

Given that the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja later overturned Kanu’s successful recusal of Justice Nyako, he claimed it was becoming more and more obvious that the most recent instance of DSS unconstitutionality was directly related to Kanu’s successful recusal.

“It is now becoming more evident that this most recent unconstitutionality coming from the DSS has a direct connection to Mazi Kanu’s successful recusal of Justice Nyako,” Ejimakor stated, “even though the recusal was later overturned by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Abuja.”

In the past, we have filed petitions before the Federal High Court to enforce the DSS’s compliance with the court-ordered visitation requirements. However, at this time, the cases have not been scheduled for a hearing. We would want to bring this to the attention of the court.

The strange impression created by this oddity is that the DSS is beyond the law, or even above the courts and the Constitution.

“The DSS need to be aware that a primary purpose of the court-mandated visits is to allow Mazi Kanu’s family and solicitors to periodically communicate with him and get documentation of his existence and well-being.

Therefore, one may wonder, now that the DSS has completely cut off all access to Mazi Kanu, what is the DSS concealing? Is Nnamdi Kanu Mazi still alive and well?
