Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku said that he was focused on real problems that affected Nigerians in the general elections in 2023.
In response to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, former vice president Atiku Abubakar stated that the former governor of Rivers State’s remark against him (Atiku) was a “theatrical outburst” motivated by personal issues.
Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku said that he was focused on real problems that affected Nigerians in the general elections in 2023.
Atiku continued on Saturday, saying that President Bola Tinubu and Governor Wike were both complicit in using the misery of Nigerians for political gain.
In response to a comment attributed to Wike, who allegedly stated that Atiku had lost relevance in politics because Nigerians had rejected him, the former vice president made this claim in a statement released on Saturday by his media adviser, Paul Ibe.
“Our attention has been drawn to Mr. Nyesom Wike’s recent remarks, which can only be described as another of his theatrical outbursts,” the statement said.
“Normally, we wouldn’t reply, but we understand that quiet may be misconstrued.
But we don’t lose heart because we know that Nigerians are aware of his actions, which are a chronicle of his resentment over losing to Wazirin Adamawa in the 2022 party presidential primary.
“Mr. Wike’s remarks are nothing more than a series of platitudes that are motivated by personal grudges and lack substance.
“If he genuinely thinks that Nigerians are happy with the way things are going under the administration he works for, it exposes a more sinister reality: his priorities are not the people but himself.
His obsession with family matters in Rivers overshadows his ministerial duties, which is a clear sign of his self-absorption.
We continue to be focused on the real problems that Nigerians face, despite his attempts to deflect attention with his irrational tirades.
It’s obvious that Mr. Wike cares more about his personal interests than solving the actual problems facing the country.
On the other hand, our dedication to the welfare and advancement of the populace does not waver.
“Mr. Wike seems to take great pleasure in imagining himself, creating fantasies, and paying for live TV coverage so he can criticise anyone he wants.”
But we’re not going to go down in the gutters, where he feels comfortable. Rather, we would rather climb above and keep our dignity while others enjoy themselves in the muck.
