The militant organisation Hezbollah, which has its stronghold in Lebanon, attempted to kill Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his family. Netanyahu responded to this effort.
Hezbollah attempted to assassinate Netanyahu and his wife on Saturday night in a drone strike that was directed at his home, but Netanyahu said in a post on his X account that it was an error and that anybody attempting to harm Israeli civilians would face severe consequences.
Netanyahu’s office acknowledged, as DAILYPULSE previously revealed, that the drone had struck close to his Caesarea, a Mediterranean seaside town. However, neither Netanyahu nor his wife were present when the event occurred, and no deaths were recorded.
Israel responded by attacking Hezbollah positions in southern Beirut with airstrikes, focussing especially on the heavily populated Dahiyeh sector.
“The attempt by Iran’s proxy Hezbollah to assassinate me and my wife today was a grave mistake,” stated the prime minister in the X post.
“To protect our future, the State of Israel and I will not let this stop us from waging a fair fight against our adversaries.
“I warn Iran and its allies in the axis of evil: There will be severe consequences for anybody attempting to kill Israeli civilians.
“We are going to keep killing terrorists and those who supply them.” We’re going back from Gaza with our captives.
And we’ll securely repatriate our citizens who reside along our northern border to their houses.
“Israel is committed to completing all of our war’s goals and altering the security landscape in our area for next generations.
“We will fight together, and with God’s assistance, we will prevail as a team.”
