The founding of Northwest University, now known as Maitama Sule University, and Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil, now known as Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, according to former Kano State governor Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, are his “best and most cherished achievements as Governor of Kano State.”
The New Nigeria People’s Party’s national leader, Kwankwaso, made this declaration on Monday in Kano during the opening of Skyline University’s state-of-the-art auditorium bearing his name.
“My investment in education was my best and cherished legacy while serving as Governor of Kano State,” he declared.
One of the events honouring the NNPP national leader’s 68th birthday was the auditorium’s opening.
“My projects, including flyovers, roads, agricultural development, and rural electrification, among others, are not my best compared to the establishment of the two universities and other educational projects,” said Kwankwaso, who turned 68 on Monday.
He praised Abba Yusuf, the state governor, for his unwavering commitment to upholding the Kwankasiyya philosophy, which places a strong focus on human growth and education.
Yusuf thanked the institution in his remarks at the event for its intention to work with the state government to train 1,000 teachers in computer skills.
He said the institution was ready to work with the state government going forward.
