Benue vows to develop as a centre of industry

The government of Benue State has reaffirmed its intention to turn the state into a centre of the industrial sector.

This was said on Monday by Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, the Managing Director of Benue Investments and Property firm Limited, during an inspection visit of the continuing construction on the Makurdi polythene bag plant, a division of the bottled water and bakery firm.

After it is finished, the plant should provide jobs for roughly 100 young people.

Asemakaha pledged that the business will produce and introduce a fresh concept each quarter.

Along the Makurdi/Naka road in Makurdi, the Managing Director conducted an inspection of the polythene bag plant and another bakery.

Government-owned BIPC was founded to promote economic growth and focusses on a variety of industries, including real estate, agriculture, infrastructure, and banking.

The firm built bottled water and bakery plants earlier this year, which resulted to a decrease in the cost of table water and bread throughout the state.

The Managing Director informed reporters that although the firm spent a lot of money on branding, bottled water bags, and polythene bags, half of the money was saved by producing these products in Lagos.

He stated, “We have been printing in Lagos for over N27 million, which is one of the reasons we introduced polythene bag printing.”

“However, instead of sending our money to different states, we will be producing the nylon bags and pure water bags here when we start in the next two weeks. We will also be labelling here.”

We wish to keep our financial flow inside the system, which is why we are taking this action. Our money shouldn’t be going outside. We wish to maintain it in order to raise the state GDP from its current level.

“We want to make the state and North Central Nigeria into an industrial hub.”

The company’s Managing Director announced that bottled water and bread production will soon be expanded throughout the state.

“We plan to increase the scope of our output to include additional state local government units. That is our aim, and we want to start reaching out to additional municipal governments as soon as we can.

“We want to focus on more than just Makurdi. Our goal is to lessen risk minimisation. Starting to visit Otukpo, Gboko, and Katsina-Ala is one of our goals. Dr. Asemakaha stated, “We want to deliver and roll out a new project every quarter, but we also want to classify them into different tiers.
