UK answers Keyamo’s letter on Air Peace’s arrival at Heathrow

The aviation authorities of the United Kingdom have indicated their willingness to engage in talks on the distribution of slots at their tier-A airport in London’s Heathrow to Air Peace, a Nigerian airline.

Early in September, Festus Keyamo, Nigeria’s minister of aviation and aerospace development, sent a formal letter to UK aviation officials asking landing slots for Air Peace at Heathrow Airport.

The UK secretary of state for transport, Louise Haigh, responded to the letter by stating that her department would be prepared to “further discuss this matter” at the “upcoming International Civil Aviation Negotiations event in October 2024.”

This comes after the federal government threatened to refuse slots to UK carriers at the airports in Lagos and Abuja.
