Five are being held in connection with the suspected murder of a UNILORIN graduate in Kwara.

In relation to the suspected murder of Lanre Adebayo, a 46-year-old political science graduate from the University of Ilorin, five male suspects have been taken into custody.

The community chairman, two local security officers, and two other people are among the accused.

The deadly event, which took place on Sunday night in the Ita-Elepa neighbourhood of Ilorin West Local Government Area, Kwara State, was followed by the arrest.

On his way home, Adebayo allegedly got into a furious dispute with the local security guards that turned violent. According to sources, he was killed by machete at about 10:00 p.m.

Police officers detained the suspects on Tuesday, and on Wednesday they were taken to the headquarters of the Kwara State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Ejire Adeyemi Adetoun, the spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, confirmed the occurrence by saying, “The suspects, all of whom are male, have been hauled in for further interrogation after the incidence was reported to command headquarters on Wednesday evening. The investigation is still under progress, and when it is finished, we will notify the media.
