In a letter to the Senate, President Bola Tinubu requested that the seven ministerial nominees who were revealed in Abuja on Wednesday be screened and then confirmed.
In a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, President Tinubu made the request, which was read aloud at Thursday’s plenary.
The letter states that Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Minister of Labour and Employment; Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu, Minister of State, Foreign Affairs; and Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, are the ministerial nominees.
Others include Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Minister of State for Housing; Idi Muktar Maiha, Minister of Livestock Development; Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, Minister of State for Education; and Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Development.
In the letter, President Tinubu asked the Senate to give his proposal prompt consideration.
The Senate promptly forwarded the presidential request to the Committee of the Whole for review, as stated by Akpabio.
“Distinguished colleagues, the committee of the whole will be considering the presidential request shortly,” he stated.
Since the Senate received the request on the last day of the week that it was in session, the red chamber may start vetting the nominations on Wednesday of the following week after receiving the necessary paperwork.
