At Lagos Fashion Week 2024, Nigerian Afrobeats artist Davido had a spectacular runway debut, wearing a gorgeous all-brown regalia cloth designed by renowned designer Ugo Monye.
October 23 marked the start of the annual fashion event, a five-day celebration of African style and enterprise that included panel talks on marketing, global economics, and potential for African fashion entrepreneurs.
Davido commanded the audience’s attention with his regal attire, which was embellished with beads, a chocolate-colored crown, and a traditional staff.
Davido earned thunderous ovation after making two runway appearances, the second of which included Monye himself.
Davido is well-versed in fashion in addition to music. He has already launched two successful collections with the sportswear behemoth Puma.
Davido, who rose to stardom in 2012 with his hit song “Dami Duro” from the album Omo Baba Olowo, is still influencing music and design, connecting African and international fashion trends.
