DHQ: During security force ambushes, weapons were discovered with militants.

“Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, clarified on Thursday that members of the Armed Forces do not intentionally supply weapons to terrorists.” The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) revealed that many of the weapons and ammunition recovered from terrorists were originally stolen from the Nigerian Armed Forces and Police during ambushes or surprise attacks.

Buba clarified that many of the weapons in terrorist hands were taken during attacks on security personnel in response to claims of military involvement in the flow of weaponry. He underlined that the problem has been exacerbated by the spread of weapons, which has been made worse by the fall of Libya and the unrest in the Sahel.

Buba emphasised the military’s resolute and constant countermeasures, which make sure that terrorists suffer severe consequences following every assault. Nuhu Ribadu, the national security adviser, recently denounced the finding of military-grade weaponry in terrorist stockpiles and harshly denounced any security officials who provide weapons to criminals.
