Ministers and heads of Federal Government agencies are only allowed to travel in official convoys with a maximum of three cars, per President Bola Tinubu’s directive.
They will not be given any more cars to relocate.
Bayo Onanuga, the Special Advisor to the President on Information and Strategy, issued a statement outlining the new policy.
“The cost-cutting measure was announced today in a statement signed by the President,” the statement reads.
Recall that President Tinubu reduced his delegation of officials travelling abroad from fifty to twenty in January, marking a major stride in cutting government spending.
He cut it to 25 officials for local excursions.
In a similar vein, he cut the vice president’s entourage to 15 personnel for domestic travel and only five for international travel.

President Tinubu also directed that all ministries and agency heads have a maximum of five security officers assigned to them in the directive that was released today.
Four police officers and one Department of State Services (DSS) officer will make up the security squad.
“He ordered that no additional security personnel be assigned,” he added.
In order to assess an appropriate reduction in the deployment of their vehicles and security personnel, the president directed the National Security Adviser, or NSA, to consult with the military, paramilitary, and security agencies.
The message further stated that “all impacted officials are expected to comply with these new measures immediately, underscoring the urgency and seriousness of these changes.”
