The Enugu government visits the Igbo-Jah family and declares that enough is enough.

At a condolence visit to the family of Okezie Mba, also known as Igbo-Jah, the killed Ogene singer, at Ogui Nike Enugu on Sunday morning, the Enugu State Government reaffirmed its commitment to seeing that justice is done.

In addition to other high-ranking government officials, the government delegation headed by SSG Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, the Secretary to the State Government, and Barr. Victor Udeh, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, emphasised the value of human life in the state and declared that it would not stand for the murder of any Enugu resident or citizen.

Following what the police characterised as a pleasant visit on Friday, the well-known Ogene singer was fatally shot as he was leaving the Ant-Cultism Tactical Squad facility. This was followed by the condolence visit.

Remember how Governor Mbah expressed his sympathies on social media on Saturday to Igbo-Jah’s family and fans? He also said that he had ordered a thorough inquiry into the artist’s tragic demise.

“We have come as a delegation from His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah to the family to extend our deep condolences on the passing and brutal killing of your son, your brother, and our brother,” Prof. Onyia stated, speaking to the family’s elders and the deceased’s young children. The governor has instructed us to come and sympathise with your intense suffering and to convey his word that we will see to it that justice is served.

“Enough is enough, and the state government will support this family at every stage. We will never take it lightly that we woke up to such heartbreaking news because every single life in Enugu matters.

We acknowledge the feelings as we can see what’s happening outside, but we would especially want to thank the family’s eldest and the others for their kind reception of our government delegation. Working with us, you have also demonstrated that maturity.

His Excellency is telling the youngsters to have hope. We’ll see to it that justice is done. One thing we can guarantee the family is that we cannot just sit back and let this kind of behaviour happen without doing anything about it.

“We sincerely apologise for both your and our losses. As we navigate these challenging circumstances, may God bless and fortify this family,” the SSG remarked.

Chief Joseph Mba, the eldest brother of Igbo-Jah and the family spokesperson, responded by saying that Governor Mbah’s actions since the regrettable tragedy shown his commitment to seeing that justice is served.

“I would want to express my gratitude to our governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, for his response to this occurrence and his unwavering commitment to seeing that justice is served.

We also rely on the government to assist with the education and well-being of his family, which includes his wife and two sons and a girl.

But more than anything, we want to express our sincere gratitude to the governor for his leadership and genuine compassion in this situation. His resolve to approach things in a different way has been evident to us,” he remarked.

Inspector Ozonwanji Joseph, the alleged murderer police officer, was arrested on Saturday, according to the Enugu State Police, who also made public his photos and promised that “he will be made to face the full weight of the law upon the conclusion of the investigation.”
