In his book “War,” journalist Bob Woodward chronicles the history of three conflicts: the Middle East, Ukraine, and Russia, as well as the US presidential election.
In it, he discloses some of the discussions and facts that current US President Joe Biden had in order to manage to prevent a world war.
“The Biden administration started to receive alarming information that the Russian president was growing more desperate over his battlefield losses six months after Putin’s failed invasion of Ukraine and in the face of the Ukrainian counteroffensive,” says Woodward.
“New intelligence reports indicated that there was a 50% chance that Russia would use a tactical nuclear weapon,” Bob Woodward writes.
Joe Biden tells his staff to get in touch with Moscow. The first is a heated phone call between the defence ministers of the United States and Russia.
“Minister,” Lloyd Austin responds, “I am the commander of the most formidable army in the world’s history. I don’t like being threatened,” Shoigu cautions. I don’t threaten anyone.
