The Federal High Court explains that no court disregarded the CJ’s transfer order.

A allegation that one of the Federal High Court’s justices disregarded a transfer order that Chief Judge Justice John Tsoho had given him since June has been refuted.

In a statement signed by Dr. Catherine Oby Christopher, its Director of Information and ICT, the court stated that the publication’s claim that the impacted judge would not leave Kano for Kogi state was untrue.

For the record, it is essential to note that on July 12, 2024, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Hon. Justice John Tsoho, issued a circular informing the public of the recent posting of judges to different Federal High Court divisions.

According to the circular, Justice Simon A. Amobeda was first assigned to Kogi State’s Lokoja.

But in a later circular dated August 9, 2024, Justice Amobeda and six other judges were told to stay in their respective Judicial Divisions.

“Due to some administrative exigencies, the Chief Judge reversed the original posting.

Judges Evelyn N. Anyadike from Awka to Warri, Hon. Justice Isa Adama Dashen from Yenagoa to Osogbo, Hon. Justice M. G. Umar from Enugu to Kano, and Justice R.N. Aikawa from Kaduna to Katsina were all impacted, and their positions were likewise inverted.

As the head of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Tsoho has the power to overturn administrative rulings pertaining to judicial postings, particularly in situations when maintaining case management continuity is essential to the administration of justice.

This explanation is now required to address the purported reporting about Justice Amobeda’s position and to show responsibility and openness in the judicial postings process.

As a result, we advised the public to ignore that web platform’s report.

Verifying and communicating the veracity of their reports is one of the most important duties of journalists.

Therefore, the court said, “We advise Sahara Reporters to make it a practice of doing the same.”
