Three female cops are arrested by police after they find extorted money in their backpacks.

PORT HARCOURT: Three policemen from the Rivers State Police Command have been taken into custody on suspicion of engaging in extortion against drivers in Port Harcourt.

Under the Rumuokoro overpass in the state’s Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, the three female officers—Inspectors Sarah Anendei, Caroline Promise, and Christiana Jatau—were taken into custody for operating an unauthorised point.

According to accounts, the three ladies have been involved in criminal operations for a long time.

Superintendent of Police Grace Iringe-Koko, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest in Port Harcourt and stated that the command has been keeping an eye on the ladies after receiving complaints of their actions.

She said that money extorted from drivers was discovered on two of them at the time of arrest, who were not wearing their uniforms while on duty.

According to Iringe-Koko, three policemen were taken into custody by the Rivers State Police Command during a coordinated monitoring patrol on October 29, 2024, by members of the Commissioner of Police team, CP Monitoring Unit.

Inspector Sarah Anendei, Inspector Caroline Promise, and Inspector Christiana Jatau were arrested as a result of the operation, which took place beneath the Rumuokoro Flyover at around 3 p.m. They were found to be involved in a corrupt practice against innocent drivers beneath the Flyover.

Inspectors Caroline Promise and Christiana Jatau, two of the officers, were seen acting in an unprofessional manner while not in uniform, which is against police regulations. A cell phone recorded their misbehaviour, giving unmistakable proof of what they did.

In a prompt move to protect moral standards within the Rivers State Police Command, the officers were searched during the first on-scene inquiry, and the money that had been seized from the drivers was recovered.
