President Bola Tinubu has been urged by a group named “The Ayatutu Cultural and Social Development Initiative Worldwide” to make sure that individuals who attacked Anyiin in Benue State’s Logo Local Government Area on Wednesday be taken into custody and subjected to the full force of the law.
In a statement sent to reporters in Makurdi on Saturday, the organisation that issued the appeal denounced the bandit assault in which more than 15 persons were allegedly slain.
According to PUNCH Online, more than 20 bandits who were thought to be herders broke into the rural residence of former state governor Senator Gabriel Suswam and carried out a fierce assault that killed more than 15 persons.
Timothy Baaki, the group’s national president, expressed remorse that the assailants had murdered Bobo Tordoo Suswam, the nephew of Gabriel Suswam, the previous governor of the state, along with several other people.
A nephew of H.E. Sen. Dr. Barr. Gabriel Suswam, the former governor of Benue State and the current senator representing Benue North East, was killed by the invaders at the gate of his home, just across from the Corpers’ lodge, according to a portion of the statement.
Residents and nearby villages have been crushed by this unjustified act of terror, which has forced many to leave their homes and live in constant fear.
In addition to calling for the deployment of sufficient security forces to Anyiin, Ayilamo, nearby towns, and other impacted areas to prevent future attacks, the organisation demanded immediate humanitarian aid for individuals who had been displaced by the incident.
We express our condolences to the relatives of the victims and call on the President of Nigeria, H.E. Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Executive Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, and the heads of security agencies to act swiftly and decisively in order to apprehend those responsible for this horrible deed.
“We urge people, government agencies, and humanitarian groups to coordinate aid efforts for these communities that are at risk.
The statement ended by saying, “We also call on authority to act decisively and end the fear and suffering inflicted on innocent lives.”
