Abbati Soja has been suspended by the Real Madrid Fans Club in Kwalam, Jigawa, for suspected misbehaviour and disloyalty to the team.
After the Spanish soccer powerhouses lost 4-0 to fierce rivals Barcelona in a La Liga match, Soja was disciplined for making “discouraging” statements, according to a statement released by the club’s chairman, Garzali Nfari, and secretary, Aliyu Tabulet.
The statement said that Soja had predicted that Real Madrid would not accomplish anything this season.
Other members’ morale was impacted by such feeling.
After a meeting of the Fan Club’s Executive Council on October 28, he was placed on suspension, which will last until May 28, 2025. The conclusion of the football season falls on that day,” it stated.
Fans are debating the choice, which has brought up significant issues regarding loyalty in sports fandom.
Some have argued that at a time when fan clubs throughout the world are working to expand their membership and encourage inclusion, such stringent measures would backfire.
In the season’s first El Clasico, Barcelona trounced Real Madrid 4-0 in front of their supporters at the Bernabeu on October 26, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
After ten games this season, the victory put Barcelona six points ahead of Real Madrid. (NAN)
