Igwe Alfred Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha, has called for South-East governors to adopt the outstanding leadership style of Enugu State’s Governor Peter Mbah.
The monarch made this request on Thursday night in Enugu during the Gala and award ceremony for the 2024 Life in My City Art Festival.
“The governor is very exemplary,” Achebe stated during the gathering. There have been other governors in Enugu State and the South East zone, but I haven’t seen another governor in Nigeria who has been so readily and publicly dedicated to appreciating and promoting the creative arts.
The South East’s cultural hub is still Enugu. Therefore, I commend Mr. Peter Mbah, the governor, for his dedication. He said, “Thank you to the governor, and I hope that his fellow governors will follow his lead and learn about creativity so that they can appreciate and support it.”
Speaking on behalf of the state’s Commissioner for Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, Dame Madueke, Mbah characterised this year’s festival as an amazing, one-of-a-kind, and thought-provoking display of the state’s common values and inventiveness.
As befits this year’s theme, the governor continued, “This event is a celebration of our shared values, a showcase of our creativity, and a profound reminder of our collective humanity.”
