The claim that Dangote Refinery sold Premium Motor Spirit, or PMS, often referred to as gasoline, for between N1, 015 and N1, 028 per litre has been rejected as false information.
According to oil marketers, the price of gasoline produced by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery ranged from N1, 015 to N1, 028 per litre yesterday. They also stated that because the landing cost was N978.01 per litre as of October 31, 2024, it would be feasible to import the product from the outside market.
Tony Chiejina, the Dangote Group’s chief corporate communications officer, responded by calling the accusation “fake news.”
The Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria said on Thursday that the landing cost of aviation fuel was N1,119.67/liter, while the landing cost of diesel was N1,069.97/liter.
The refinery now sells to oil marketers who buy in bulk for N1,015/litre and small purchasers at N1,028/litre, according to a prominent marketer who asked to remain anonymous.
“Dangote is sold to bulk buyers at N1, 015/litre, but the refinery is selling at N1, 028/litre to marketers who are not buying in bulk,” he stated.
However, because the refinery was processing imported crude oil, Dr. Joseph Obele, Publicity Secretary of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria, or PETROAN, stated that Dangote fuel prices may be higher.
