Tinubu praises Adeduntan, the former MD of FirstBank, for his efforts.

Dr. Adesola Adeduntan, the retiring Group Chief Executive Officer of First Bank Nigeria Limited, received congratulations from President Bola Tinubu on Friday for his tenure at the country’s oldest bank.

A message issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), offered the President’s best wishes.

In observance of Adeduntan’s nine years as head of affairs at the 130-year-old bank, First Bank is planning a send-off event this weekend.

Eight months prior to his term ending on December 31, 2024, Adeduntan announced his resignation with immediate effect in April.

President Tinubu praised Adeduntan, Onanuga said, for leading the bank through revolutionary development, which included increasing the number of client accounts from 10 million to over 42 million and increasing Profit Before Tax from N10 billion in 2015 to N300 billion in 2023.

The President claimed that these achievements demonstrated Adeduntan’s imaginative leadership and dedication to quality.

“The President conveyed his gratitude for Adeduntan’s readiness to serve the country in a number of important capacities, such as his contributions to the Nigerian Economic Summit Group and other notable organisations. Nigeria’s economy has benefited greatly from his broad experience in the finance industry.

Part of the release said, “President Tinubu also praises the bank’s strong internal management culture, which is accountable for the smooth transfer from Adeduntan to the current CEO, Olusegun Alebiosu.
