On Friday, the Oyo State Police Command said that it has opened an inquiry into the death of Olusegun Tinubu, 39, who was stabbed to death in Ibadan, the state capital, by his wife, Comfort Tinubu.
Adewale Osifeso, the state police public relations officer, told our correspondent over the phone in Ibadan that the issue was being investigated.
The matter is being investigated by the command’s State Criminal Investigation Department’s Homicide Department. Please offer updates as appropriate,” he stated.
At their home in Gbeyi-Adegbayi, in the state’s Egbeda Local Government Area, Comfort allegedly fatally stabbed her husband on Wednesday due to a little argument.
According to Saturday PUNCH’s investigations, the deceased had accused his wife of arbitrarily excluding him from their bedroom.
“I got the call around 10:03 p.m. and I learnt that they fought and she stabbed him, but he was rushed to the hospital,” said an informed family source who asked to remain anonymous. I received another call informing me of my younger brother’s death around half an hour later.
She was questioned what occurred when we reported the incident at the police station, and she stated that her late husband, my younger brother, had accused her of shutting the matrimonial bedroom door since she left the house at approximately 7 a.m. and returned at around 7 p.m.
She said that the issue resulted in a quarrel between them, but that the altercation began when her late husband slapped her while she was lying down nursing their child.
“She went back to her room after settling the fight, asking the husband to sleep in the living room,” according to another family source.
Comfort rushed to assault the spouse while he was lying down and stabbed him in the back, with the knife emerging from the front, according to further information obtained.
The spouse reportedly cried for assistance, sagged, and by the time he arrived at the hospital, it was verified that he was dead.
The State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, Ibadan, eventually received the case after it was first reported at the Gbagi Police Station.
