“Professor” Jide Josiah Jisos was given a six-month jail term by the Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, for impersonating someone during the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
On October 24, 2024, Chief Magistrate Honourable Justice Folashade Oyekan imposed the punishment.
While watching the UTME at Brix Academy in Abuja, Jisos was captured by Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board personnel.
According to a statement released on Sunday by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Jisos posed as a representative of a non-governmental organisation in order to conduct the test.
When he was questioned by the surveillance team commander, who wanted to know why he was there, his ruse was allegedly revealed.
But when he was questioned in the test hall by the monitoring team head, who asked him to explain his intentions, his deceit was exposed.
Since he was unable to support his statements, Jisos was taken into custody and turned over to security guards for additional examination. He admitted under questioning that he was in the test room to help his daughter take the 2019 UTME and that he had no affiliation with any NGO.
Jisos was sentenced to six months in jail with the possibility of a N100,000 punishment after Chief Magistrate Honourable Justice Folashade Oyekan found him guilty of a single count of impersonation, according to the statement.
However, the date of the judgment’s issuance was not disclosed in the statement.
