According to the Lagos State Government, for 15 months, traffic will be rerouted at Mile 2 via Loop 1 on the Apapa-bound lane and Loop 4 on the Badagry-bound lane.
Rail, bus, water and non-motorized transit were all intended to be integrated through the Transport Interchange Terminal, which was built.
Monday, November 11, 2024, is the planned start date of the construction, which is anticipated to last until February 16, 2026.
Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Commissioner for Transportation, made this announcement in a statement on Sunday.
According to the commissioner, traffic will be heavy for drivers travelling from Apapa to Oshodi and vice versa.
In order to connect Coker and reach the Lagos-Badagry Motorway, drivers travelling from Apapa to Badagry would continue on the Apapa-Oshodi Motorway and turn into Akinwande Road.
Tourists travelling from Badagry to Lagos would also have to deal with traffic, and vice versa.
In order to connect Amuwo Odofin Estate and Apapa-Oshodi Express Way, drivers travelling to Apapa would be rerouted via Durban Road, he stated.
Osiyemi also revealed that Lagos State Traffic Management Authority staff would be stationed along the affected roads to monitor traffic flow, reassuring drivers that the diversion routes had been well designated with signage to help them navigate their destinations.
In order to limit disruptions, he also encouraged drivers to cooperate with the interventions in place.
