Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, the state’s chief judge, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, and the controller general of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Haliru Nababa, are among the dignitaries anticipated at Prison Fellowship Nigeria’s Family Weekend and Annual General Meeting, which begins Thursday at the Redemption Camp on the Lagos-Ibadan motorway.
The AGM, which has “Transforming Power” as its theme, will also include a keynote speech by Dipeolu on the subject of “Decongestion of Our Correctional Facilities: Roles of Judiciary.”
Journalists were given access to a statement from the PFN Media Unit on Monday, which was signed by Apostle Paul Joseph.
According to the statement, Prison Fellowship Nigeria is a faith-based organisation dedicated to reforming our correctional facilities and the inmates in order to create a better society. It is members of the African Union Commission on Human and People’s Rights and is chartered with Prison Fellowship International.
According to 2 Corinthians 3:18, this year’s family weekend and annual general meeting, with the subject “Transforming Power,” aims to further apply the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring about a positive change in the lives of the prisoners and society at large.
The body’s main objective is the complete care and transformation of the prisoners in order to integrate them into society and make them valuable to God, mankind, and themselves.
“The Prison Fellowship also engages in criminal justice and correctional service reforms, including building capacity for those involved in and impacted by crime, providing inmates with materials and medical support, and advocating for victims and their families.”
Abiodun is the honoured guest of honour for this annual event, which is chaired by Dr. Emmanuel Adekunle, the state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria and the bishop of the Egba Anglican Diocese, the release added.
The executive director of Prison Fellowship Nigeria, Barrister Benson Iwuagwu, the international president of Prison Fellowship, Mr. Andy Corley, and the African regional director, Mrs. Ashella Ndhlovu, are among the other speakers at the three-day conference, which is expected to draw roughly 600 delegates from all over the nation.
