According to reports, the tapes feature interactions with well-known people, including his cousin, his brother’s wife, and the sister of the president of Equatorial Guinea.
During a fraud probe, the controversy surfaced when authorities discovered more than 300 films on Ebang Engonga’s computer that depicted interactions with several women, some of whom were married.
The video, which was found in his private office, was allegedly taken with his permission and has since gone viral online, sparking a media frenzy.
In a public speech on X (previously Twitter), Vice President Teodoro Nguema of Equatorial Guinea addressed the incident and denounced improper behaviour in official agencies.
He emphasised that having sex is completely forbidden in administrative settings and threatened to take legal action against anybody who do so.
Sexual interactions at workplaces are forbidden, Nguema said, “given the abuse that has been displayed on Equatorial Guinea’s social media in recent days, and keeping in mind that ministries are solely and exclusively for carrying out administrative work in support of the country’s development.” “There are already controls in place, and anyone who breaks this rule again will face disciplinary action for indecent behaviour and will lose their job.”
