“The council meeting was postponed in honour of Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, who passed away on Tuesday night.” The meeting had been originally planned for Wednesday.
Prior to his passing on November 5, 2024, General Lagbaja held the position of Chief of Army Staff from June 19, 2023.
In remembrance of the deceased general, President Tinubu also mandated that flags be flown at half-staff across the country for seven days.
President Tinubu had earlier on Wednesday sent the Nigerian Armed Forces and the Lagbaja family his deepest sympathies.
He recognised Lt. Gen. Lagbaja’s important achievements to the country and wished him eternal peace.
