In an interview with a few reporters, General Oluyede conveyed the profound grief that the Nigerian Army is experiencing after losing its commander.
It is very unfortunate that he passed away,” Oluyede said. “Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s direction, the nation made every effort to retain him.” He was a person who devoted his life to Nigeria.
Oluyede went on to say that Lagbaja was a “selfless leader” who had a “passionate dedication to Nigeria.” He led the Nigerian Army with professionalism, bravery, and thoroughness. We are deeply grieving for him, and we ask the good Lord to give him peace.
Highlighting his record of selflessness and dedication, the Acting COAS asked Nigerians to honour Lagbaja for his commitment and sacrifices to the nation. Oluyede stated: “I want Nigerians to genuinely honour him for the excellent work he accomplished.”
After battling an undiagnosed ailment while receiving medical treatment, Lagbaja, 56, passed away. Oluyede was promoted to Lieutenant General after the federal government revealed that he passed away in Lagos after returning to Nigeria.
