
More than 15 persons lost their lives in a confrontation between the Mera community’s inhabitants and the new terrorist organisation, Lakurawa, in Kebbi State.
The new group is said to have ties to the Sahelian branch of ISIS.
The incident occurred on Friday close to Mera community in the Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State, according to a BBC Hausa broadcast that Vanguard saw.
According to a source who spoke to BBC Hausa, the incident started when terrorists from the Lakurawa group approached a local herder and tried to rustle his cattle.
How it began
After the herder sprinted to the community and sounded the alarm, the locals marched to the scene and fought the terrorists, killing 15 and injuring several others.

According to the witness, “the Deputy Governor of Kebbi State paid a condolence visit to the people of Mera, accompanied by the Commissioner of Police and the Emir of Argungu.”
Abdullahi Idris Zuru, the governor of Kebbi State’s media aide, acknowledged over the phone on Saturday that the terror group does exist in some areas of the state.
He gave his word that the Lakurawa threat was being contained by the government.
