The group of vigilantes allegedly chased after the rusling from the event after spotting them running away on the motorbike.

In a statement given to reporters in Irikin on Saturday, Ejire Adeyemi Adetoun, the state police command’s spokesperson, acknowledged the event.

The Kwara State Police Command wants to notify the public of a significant discovery: on November 4, 2024, Peter Samuel (M), Jeremiah Tiozinda (M), and Sunday Agbenke (M) brutally murdered Rafiu Akao (M), 34. Police investigators at the SCID Ilorin have recovered a dismembered portion of his remains.

In order to get rid of the late Rafiu’s commercial motorbike, all three suspects have admitted to the crime.

According to the complaint, “Sunday Agbenke provided Peter Samuel with the motorbike rider’s phone number in order to entice him to an undisclosed location.”

Peter Samuel wanted to ease himself, so he stopped the rider on their path, allowing Jeremiah Tiozinda to strike him on the head with a stick.

The rider struggled to get away after falling off his motorbike and hitting the ground, but Peter Samuel and Jeremiah Tiozinda eventually overpowered him.

While Jeremiah Tiozinda threw the cutlass and the shredded portion into the stream and fled on his motorbike, Peter Samuel pulled out a cutlass and chopped the head.

“The Vigilante on patrol heard the noise of the heinous act and pursued them vigorously,” the statement continued. The criminals ran away into the jungle after abandoning the motorbike.

Regretfully, police detectives arrested Peter Samuel after his cell phone came off at the crime site. As soon as the investigations are complete, the suspects will be arraigned in court.

In addition, Kwara State Police Command Commissioner of Police CP Victor Olaiya reaffirmed in the statement his dedication to protecting Kwarans’ lives and property while enforcing the ban on motorcycle and tricycle riders’ movement between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. every day.

He issued a warning that anyone found breaking the law will face appropriate legal action.
