Pelosi: How Biden caused us to lose the election for president

Nancy Pelosi, the former speaker of the US House of Representatives, has stated that if President Joe Biden had withdrawn from the campaign earlier, Democrats may have performed better in Tuesday’s election.

“There might have been other candidates in the race if the president had stepped down sooner,” Pelosi stated.

According to numerous reports, Pelosi spearheaded the Democratic effort to remove Biden. And after weeks of pressure and a dismal debate performance against Donald Trump, he finally dropped out of the race at the end of July.

Biden swiftly supported Vice-President Kamala Harris to succeed him as his campaign came to a conclusion.

But on Tuesday, Hillary was soundly defeated by President-elect Trump.

“It was expected that there would be an open primary if the president were to resign,” Pelosi responded to the New York Times.

Several Democratic candidates would have faced off in an open primary, hoping to be chosen by party members to be Biden’s successor as their nominee for the White House.

Harris would have performed well in such a primary process, according to Pelosi, and it would have made her “stronger going forward.”
