In order to attend the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, which will centre on the current state of affairs in the Middle East, President Bola Tinubu will leave Abuja on Sunday for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, said in a statement that the summit will start on Monday, November 11, 2024.
The statement clarified that the summit follows last year’s conference in the same Saudi city and is being convened at the request of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The statement added, “President Tinubu is anticipated to speak about the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict during the summit, highlighting Nigeria’s firm demand for an immediate ceasefire and the pressing need for a peaceful resolution.
Nigeria would also push for fresh initiatives to bring the two-state solution back to life as a means of achieving regional peace that will last.
