Survivors recounted their courageous flight to freedom, and Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, Director of Public Relations and Information, confirmed the successful escape.
Operation Farautar Mujiya, a high-impact air interdiction mission targeting infamous bandit strongholds in Zamfara and Kebbi, was initiated by the NAF’s Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma. Based on verified intelligence of increasing terrorist activities in the area, these precision night actions were carried out on November 8.
NAF assets carried out surprise aircraft strikes on many camps, including a key position close to Sangeko, Zamfara, the Kebbi border, and Ado Aleiro’s fortified base around Asola Hill in Tsafe LGA, using cutting-edge surveillance and targeting technology. The strikes severely damaged the criminal network’s capabilities by neutralising several of Aleiro’s fighters and destroying a significant weapons cache.
Air Commodore Akinboyewa said, “The strikes caused significant disruption to the bandits’ operations,” and that many hostages took advantage of the commotion to flee. “This air campaign has given the locals a newfound sense of hope in addition to making the bandits fearful.”
As the Armed Forces step up efforts to maintain peace throughout Nigeria, additional updates are anticipated in the days ahead. Operation Farautar Mujiya highlights the NAF’s flexibility and dedication to eradicating banditry.
