The pump price is much more than the true market value, according to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), which has accused gasoline merchants of manipulating petrol prices.

According to the NLC, Nigerians are being taken advantage of, and because of government policies that are driving people into poverty, citizens are suffering more and going hungry.

The NLC asked for an immediate assessment of measures it characterised as “anti-people” and emphasised the extreme economic suffering experienced nationwide in a statement issued after its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

In addition, the NLC instructed state councils that have not yet adopted the new minimum wage to launch an indefinite strike against the unresolved labour concerns on December 1, 2024.

The organization’s call demonstrates its dedication to holding the government and petroleum marketers responsible for the wellbeing of its residents, as well as its mounting concerns about the economic burden on Nigerians.
