Following the recent wave of terrorism in Sokoto State and parts of the North West, as well as other forms of violent extremism in the nation by a group called Lakurawa, Major General Adamu Laka, National Coordinator, National Counter-Terrorism Centre, revealed that there was no reason for concern because the group had fewer than 200 members.
Under the direction of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, or NSA, the military and other security services were on top of the issue, according to the Counter-Terrorism coordinator, and the organisation would be eliminated soon.
“It is true that a new wave of threats by the Lakurawa has emerged, but together, through strategic actions and unwavering public support, we can confront and overcome these threats,” Major Gen. Laka remarked in reference to attempts to combat the terrorist organisation.

“The Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, and other service chiefs have met multiple times since the formation of this unwholesome group, and decisive action has been taken to eradicate all members of this group and all others from Sokoto State and Nigeria in general.
“This group’s members are trying to upend our communities and lives by using innovative strategies and taking use of technology. They seek to sow discord and fear, but I have faith that, with the power of a unified society, we will overcome them quickly.
The villagers requested them to come and offer protection against robbers, according to Gen. Laka, who described how the force berthed in North West. They are now imposing and collecting taxes from the populace after temporarily ensuring security, which is not possible and is not permitted in a sovereign nation. The NSA is keeping an eye on things. President Bola Tinubu is giving security forces all they need to eradicate insecurity and apprehend terrorists.
How many of them are there? There are no more than 150 to 200 of them. The situation is not as dire as Nigerians believe. Nigerians shouldn’t fall for the terrorist group’s main goal, which is to instill fear and encourage others to assist them.
