Odoh Holding Limited, Union Auto Parts Manufacturing Company Limited, and Max Shipping Services Limited are additional.
The suit’s claimant described his reasons for leaving the firm and the failure of his several attempts to receive his pay and retirement benefits.
According to court documents, Eze was hired by Ibeto Group as the Group Financial Controller with an offer dated November 6, 2001. His employment began on December 1, 2001, and he worked for the defendants for 19 years in that position.
He further stated that he, the Group Executive Director for Operations and Investments, and the Group Chief Internal Auditor were present at a meeting called by the defendants’ Chairman/Chief Executive Officer on May 21, 2021.
The claimant claims that the CEO told them at the meeting that one of the company’s clients had paid N2.7 billion for the first two years of a rental agreement for the Ibeto Terminal in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Eze further asserts that the CEO said he intended to pay N17,861,995.54 in three or more installments to cover his unpaid salary, which was due till April 30, 2021.
He continued by saying that the CEO reportedly told him that his pay will be cut in half beginning in May 2021 for a six-month trial period before the agreement was reconsidered.
As a result, Eze decided to legally retire from his job and asked that any unpaid salaries from the time of his disengagement be reimbursed.
During the case’s last hearing before Justice Ogunbowale on November 14, 2024, the claimant’s attorney showed up in court, but the defendants’ attorneys did not.
The claimant’s attorney told the court that he had recently taken over the case file and asked for a short postponement so that he could submit the necessary paperwork for the representation change.
The next hearing date was set for February 5, 2025, after Justice Ogunbowale approved the adjournment.
