Theilvig, Miss Denmark, ultimately took home the title, replacing Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua as Miss Universe 2023.
Adetshina expressed her gratitude on Instagram after the competition.
The beauty queen remembered how Nigerians helped her when she needed it most and how Africa as a whole showed her the value of cooperation in achieving goals.
“Thank you is not enough for all the support you have shown, Nigeria,” she added. When I was at my lowest, you came to my aid. I’ve never talked much, but you gave me strength when I was about to give up on life. You gave me the courage to fight on the days when I didn’t want to. I’m incredibly appreciative of everyone for joining me on this adventure.
Additionally, she spoke to the African continent, stating, “I want to thank Africa for your love and support.” Africa fought for me just as much as I represent Nigeria. Many were moved by my tale and voice, which united us. I’ve learnt the value of unity from this voyage. I wish for a society in which everyone is able to embrace and appreciate one another.
Chidimma Adetshina emphasised in her closing remarks that this is just the start of her journey, not its conclusion.
