According to one of the police sources, an armed guy knocked on a door in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, in the southeast suburbs of Paris, at around six in the morning (0500 GMT).
According to the source, the individual threatened the police “by pointing a handgun and shouting ‘Allahu akbar,'” which is a Muslim phrase that means “God is greatest.”
After then, a policeman pulled out his gun and shot the victim, who passed away in spite of the emergency services’ efforts to help him, according to the source.
Another police source claims that the individual was struck once after the officer discharged his firearm three times. The police body camera recorded the whole encounter.
According to police sources, the 30-year-old guy committed “apology for terrorism” in 2019.
As is customary, the file has been forwarded to the police’s IGPN internal affairs division.
The victim was shot by a police officer whose alcohol and drug tests came back negative.
According to the most recent IGPN data, 38 persons in France lost their lives as a consequence of police intervention in 2022, including 22 who were shot.
