How near are we to World War I?

The war is about to enter its third year, and US President Joe Biden has authorised Ukraine to employ long-range weaponry manufactured in the West to attack inside Russian territory.

The US and UK resisted Ukraine’s long-standing request for authorisation to employ Western drones to aid in its conflict with Russia out of concern that things would get worse.

Now that has changed, Ukraine is allegedly getting ready for its first long-range assaults in the days ahead.

Vladimir Putin had earlier declared that allowing Ukraine to employ the missiles would “change the very nature of the conflict” if the West did so.

In September, he told a state TV reporter: “It would mean that the US, European countries, and NATO countries are at war with Russia.”

“If so, we will make the right choices based on the threats we will encounter, taking into consideration the evolving nature of the conflict.”
