Reuters’s JERUSALEM Israel’s airstrike on Iran last month damaged Tehran’s defence and missile production capabilities while striking at a component of its nuclear program, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday.
Netanyahu stated, “It’s not a secret,” during an address before parliament. “There is a specific component in their nuclear programme that was hit in this attack,”
He said that Iran has not been prevented from obtaining a nuclear bomb, but he did not specify the component.
On October 26, a few weeks after Iran launched a volley of over 200 ballistic missiles against Israel, Israeli fighter jets launched three waves of attacks on Iranian military facilities.
An earlier direct-attack exchange in April came before this.
Netanyahu gave some further information on what Israel had targeted in his speech.
One of four Russian-supplied S-300 surface-to-air missile defence batteries near Tehran, the Iranian capital, was destroyed in Israel’s April operation, which he said was more targeted.
According to him, Israel destroyed the three remaining batteries in October and seriously harmed Iran’s capacity to generate solid fuel, which is used in long-range ballistic missiles, as well as ballistic missiles.
