Simon Ekpa’s Arrest does not end the sit-at-home

Even though Simon Ekpa, the suspected mastermind of the gunman attacks, was arrested, the Monday sit-at-home has gotten worse in the southeast.

On Monday morning, November 25

A violent gunfight broke out in Mbata, Umuchima village, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, Abia State, between members of the Nigerian Army’s 14 Brigade, Ohafia, and unidentified gunmen.

Around 6 a.m., more than 15 Hilux cars and armoured personnel carriers are said to have arrived in the area to target suspected gunmen who were apparently camping close to a river that borders Abia and the Mbaise axis of Imo State.

Soldiers had seized control of important intersections that led into and out of the area, according to eyewitnesses. Many locals fled their homes for safety as the gunshots began early in the morning, according to one resident.

There have been no confirmed casualties from the fierce gunfight that has continued in the surrounding bushes. Neither the Abia State Government nor the Nigerian Army have released any formal remarks as of the time of publication.
Days prior to the altercation, Abia State Governor Alex Otti reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to fight insecurity. Otti promised to bring calm back to the state after meeting with senior security officers last week.

Gunmen have attacked members of the Anambra State

Vigilante Service once more.
The event took place in Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State, along the Amesi-Uga Road.

A source stated that the incident left one vigilante member injured, while their operational vehicle was set ablaze.

In a news release issued yesterday, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police, verified the occurrence.

According to him, police officers acted quickly to stop the assault and save the wounded vigilante, who was transported to the hospital right away and is currently being treated.

Ikenga claims that in order to stop additional criminal activity and guarantee that commodities and valuables were protected, the police secured the attack site.

Joint security forces have increased patrols in the area, he said, using intelligence-led operations to prevent the criminals from causing more damage and to make it easier for them to be apprehended.

Ikenga also claimed that police officers from the Okpoko Divisional Headquarters responded to a distress call about a fire that had broken out at Chukwunonso Street on Obodoukwu Road in Okpoko.
“To stop criminals from taking advantage of the situation to steal property, the area was roped off, and fire department personnel quickly brought the situation under control.

On Mondays and Saturdays, however, SSS3 students are expected to attend special classes without a uniform.

“As we anticipated all well-meaning parents and guardians to have done by now, we are grateful to everyone who has sincerely tried to finish all of their payments.Would you kindly spread the word about this message?

The most recent order was reportedly issued in response to a purported threat by unidentified individuals to assault Monday-opening schools and school buses.

No business operations

There were, as usual, no business operations in the majority of Anambra. Traders in the main market in Awka quickly locked their stores after hearing rumours that gunmen might attack the market on Monday.

A relatively low number of people attended the Anambra Innovation Week, which started on Monday, because those who were supposed to go from all over the state were unable to do so. However, the week was proclaimed open by the state deputy governor, Dr. Onyekachi Ibezim, and it is anticipated that full attendance will start on Tuesday.

The threat of gunman assaults hampered business and economic activity in a few key southeast cities.

Reunited with their family are abducted Abia Anglican delegates.

After being abducted in Kogi State while travelling to Abuja a few days ago, members of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Diocese of Isiala Ngwa in Abia State, have since reclaimed their freedom and are back with their families.

Unknown thugs abducted the delegates, who included two priests and both male and female church members, as they were travelling to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja to attend the Divine Commonwealth Conference of Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion (DIVCCON), an annual religious gathering.

Church officials from other Dioceses expressed their prayers for the victims’ freedom as a result of the tragedy, which alarmed the Isiala Ngwa Diocese’s faithful as well as the Anglican community at large.
According to the Diocese’s most recent report, the delegates were free to return to Abia to be with their families.

There was no information on whether their relatives paid a ransom or if Kogi State police were able to save them.
