In a conversation with reporters in the Ungogo local government region on Tuesday, Tanko disclosed this.

The headteacher said that the quality of instruction had been impacted by the imbalance between the number of students and the number of staff members available.

He bemoaned how hard it was for teachers to provide each student the individualised attention they needed because of the large number of students.

Tanko emphasised that hiring more teachers would greatly enhance learning outcomes and lessen the workload for the current staff, and he urged the state government and pertinent agencies to address the staffing shortfall.

Both teachers and students are finding the situation intolerable. He claimed that academic performance is suffering because there are not enough teachers to manage the high student body.

Both the school’s head girl, Jamila Suleiman, and head boy, Nura Yusuf, voiced their concerns and demanded immediate action to increase the teaching staff ratio.

Similarly, Umar Aliyu, the headmaster of Yelwa Primary School in the Dala local government area, bemoaned the fact that there were only 31 instructors for the 1,164 students enrolled.

Aliyu also asked the state government to hire more teachers, train the current staff, and install more restrooms.

In order to stop the persistent thefts and vandalism in schools, he also called for more security.

With only 39 instructors for 1,764 students, Sabon Layi Primary School’s headmaster, Auwal Abubakar, further supported his colleagues’ demands for more teachers to be hired.

Malam Habibu Sani, the headteacher of Hotoro South Special Primary School, added that there were only 30 teachers for the 1,432 students enrolled.

He declared, “To manage the high number of students, we need more qualified teachers.”
