IPOB cautions that Finland’s Biafra proclamation is a fraud
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has strongly condemned the recent declaration of a Biafra Government in Exile (BGIE) by Simon Ekpa, labeling it a scam and distancing itself from his activities. IPOB, under its leader Nnamdi Kanu, emphasized its commitment to achieving Biafran independence through peaceful and legal means, such as a UN-supervised referendum. The group clarified that Simon Ekpa has never been part of IPOB and accused him of exploiting the Biafran cause for personal gain and spreading violence in southeastern Nigeria【76†source】【78†source】.

Ekpa’s actions, including forming a faction and declaring himself “Prime Minister” of the BGIE, have been met with widespread criticism. IPOB described his group as responsible for escalating violence and sowing discord in the region. Furthermore, IPOB has warned Biafrans to avoid participating in any unauthorized referenda or gatherings, suggesting that such activities are ploys to target innocent civilians【77†source】【78†source】.
