This was disclosed by Omolola Odutola, the Ogun State Command’s Public Relations Officer, during her appearance on Channels Television’s Morning Brief yesterday.

Odutola disclosed that young ladies between the ages of 20 and 32 were the most impacted during the conversation on “Hookup Culture: Impact on Youth Values and Relationships.”

She went on to say that a lot of young people, particularly men, think that ritual killings are a means of getting rich.

“I want a lot of young people to understand the dangers of the hookup culture because this particular menace is very serious.” There are numerous instances of missing people today. At least ten young women and girls disappear every day by the time we begin an investigation.

Additionally, thorough examinations show that those cases are not the result of chance. The majority of them are linked to applications and hookup channels. They become victims of being utilised for ritual purposes after being casually invited to unknown locations by strangers.

“I would like to point out that the majority of missing girl instances and ritual killings that have been taking place in Ogun State recently are not new. However, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police has managed to control these unsightly instances as much as feasible.

The terrible viewpoint of young people who think ritual murders could benefit them is the root of the problem. Some of these dishonest people trick young people into purchasing human skulls or body parts, which they then utilise in some sort of scheme to make themselves wealthy.

To educate young people and help them realise that participating in ritual killings does not in any way make one wealthy, we are conducting advocacy and sensitisation campaigns,” she stated.

To address and stop the threat, she said, the police leadership was working closely with the state Women Affairs Commission.

“The Women Affairs Commission, in particular, collaborates with the police command by offering counselling sessions,” she said.

In addition, we have a suitable method for assisting the ladies in overcoming any mental health issues and anxiety they may have experienced throughout the situation, even if they manage to break free from the customs in such cases.

Young girls between the ages of 20 and roughly 32 are most affected by the hookup culture. Their involvement in this threat stems from their get-rich syndrome and their perception that their parents don’t give them enough.

Casual sexual interactions, such as one-night stands, that frequently lack emotional attachment or long-term commitment are referred to as “hookup culture.” Although this fashion dates back to the 1920s, it has recently gained popularity and acceptance.

While some contend that hookup culture advances women’s independence and self-determination, others think it undermines the growth of wholesome and fulfilling partnerships.
