A portion of Queen Elizabeth Hall, the University of Ibadan’s female-only undergraduate residence hall, has caught fire.Offices are completely destroyed by fire
As of the time of this report, the cause of the fire is still unknown, however the incident happened early on Thursday.
The Hall Warden’s and the Secretary’s offices were the main targets of the fire, which raised questions about the security and safety of the students who lived there.
The university’s director of public relations, Mrs. Joke Akinpelu, confirmed the occurrence and stated that investigations are being conducted. She also stated that the cause of the fire has not yet been formally identified.
“Yes, it is accurate. Both the secretary’s and the hall warden’s offices were impacted,” she said, adding that the institution is taking the situation seriously and is dedicated to making sure all students are secure.
“More information will likely be released by university officials as it becomes available.”
As authorities attempt to handle the situation and offer assistance to those affected by the fire, the university community is asked to exercise caution and report any odd activity.
